Preparing Your Home for an Interior Paint Job: A Step-by-Step Guide

A truly flawless paint finish begins with proper preparation.

At We Paint & Renovate, we partner with our clients by sharing our expertise on preparing your home for an interior paint job. These simple steps ensure our team can deliver stunning results efficiently.

Clear Your Space

The first step is to create a clear workspace. We ask that you move all furniture towards the center of the room, at least three feet away from the walls. Please also remove all wall hangings, such as pictures, mirrors, and clocks, as well as any delicate decor items from shelves or tables.

Clean the Surfaces

For the best paint adhesion, walls need to be clean and free of dust or grime. A simple wipe-down with a mild detergent and water a day or two before we arrive can make a significant difference. Pay special attention to baseboards, window sills, and areas in kitchens or bathrooms that may have buildup.

Plan for Access and Protection

While our team always comes equipped with drop cloths and plastic sheeting to protect your home, ensuring there is a clear path from the entrance to the work area is incredibly helpful. Please remove any rugs, mats, or other potential tripping hazards from this path so we can move our equipment safely and efficiently.

Communicate Final Details

When our team arrives, it’s the perfect time for a final walkthrough. Please point out any areas of concern you may have, such as nail holes, cracks, or stubborn stains. This open communication ensures we are all on the same page and that our preparation process addresses every detail for a perfect finish.
